SHOPPING

For the ones that love to include some shopping in the bigger cities, Ribérac is a perfect hub. The city of Périgueux is just half an hour away and has a charming town centre with lots of shops. Bergerac is a bit further away - about 45 minutes - and is as charming. Angoulème, just over the border with Charente, is a lovely city with great high street shopping, from small French stores to the bigger international chains. And if that's not enough, head to Bordeaux. There is a big shopping mall just outside the centre, but the beautiful town centre is well worth the visit. From cheap to (very...) expensive luxury brands, from local to international stores, you name it.

RIBÉRAC

Although Ribérac is a small, regional town, it has a surprising range of shops. There is a wide choice for daily shopping, with four supermarkets (Intermarché, E.Leclerc, Aldi, Lidl), an organic supermarket BioCoop outside and a Proxi neighbourhood supermarket in the centre. Of course, you will find bakeries, butchers and delicatessens. There are also small clothing shops, thrift shops, opticians, flower and gift shops. And on the outskirts of the village, you can find household goods (Centrakor, Gifi), gardening supplies (Gamm Vert, Jardin Vert), DIY (BricoMarché), sportswear (Sport 2000), etc. around the supermarkets. And if that's not enough, there is of course the famous Friday market in the town centre, which offers a wide range of food and non-food items, especially in the summer months, and attracts thousands of visitors from the region.

ANGOULÈME

Angoulême is a surprising shopping destination, where history and modern shops come together. In the charming city centre, you can stroll through narrow streets lined with boutiques, concept stores and artisan shops. Here you will find fashion, accessories and local products in an atmospheric setting, often with cosy cafés where you can take a break. For those who prefer larger brands and a wider selection, the Centre Commercial Champ-de-Mars is ideal, with fashion chains, beauty shops and lifestyle stores all under one roof. Just outside the city is La Galerie Angoulême in Champniers, where a hypermarket and more than forty shops await, from clothing and sports to interior design. In addition to fashion and gastronomy, Angoulême is known for its comics and art: there are lovely bookshops and comic shops that you won't find anywhere else. Shopping in Angoulême is therefore a combination of practical shopping and unique finds, always framed by the city's cosy, southern atmosphere.

In the historic city centre, you will find a mix of boutiques, delicatessens and artisan workshops. The lively markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays are an absolute must: they fill the heart of the city with colours, scents and local delicacies, ideal for finding souvenirs or culinary treasures. For those who prefer to shop extensively, just outside the city centre is the La Feuilleraie shopping centre in Trélissac, with numerous well-known brands and a wide choice of fashion and lifestyle items. Together with the commercial zone in Marsac-sur-l'Isle, this offers a modern contrast to the historic heart. BORDEAUX

Shopping in Bordeaux is an experience in itself. The city combines elegance, French charm and a wide range of shops. Rue Sainte-Catherine, one of the longest pedestrian shopping streets in Europe, is the bustling heart of the city, where you will find international chains, department stores and popular fashion brands. For those who love luxury and refinement, the streets around the Cours de l'Intendance and the Allées de Tourny are ideal, with boutiques from exclusive fashion houses and jewellers. Lovers of unique finds should not miss the Quartier des Chartrons, where vintage shops, art galleries and antique shops form an inspiring mix. In addition, the Galerie Bordelaise, a 19th-century covered passage, is perfect for those who want to stroll in style and discover special shops. From large department stores to small designer boutiques and markets full of local specialities, Bordeaux offers the right atmosphere for every taste and budget. BERGERAC

Shopping in Bergerac is a delightful combination of history, atmosphere and varied shops. In the old town, with its half-timbered houses and charming squares, you will discover boutiques full of fashion, accessories and jewellery, interspersed with delicatessens proudly presenting the flavours of the Périgord: foie gras, wines and nut products. Stroll through the narrow streets and be surprised by art galleries and craft workshops, ideal for finding a unique souvenir. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the city comes alive during the markets, where stalls offer local products, clothing and handicrafts in a colourful and lively atmosphere. For a wider selection, you will find several shopping centres with supermarkets and well-known chains on the outskirts of the city, convenient for practical purchases. However, the charming, historic heart of Bergerac remains the real attraction: here, shopping goes hand in hand with enjoying terraces, culture and the authentic French lifestyle.
