About us and "Out and About"
Situated in the town centre of Ribérac, within a few minutes' walk of all the facilities of a thriving, market town (of which Ribérac is famous for its Friday market, reputedly the largest in the Dordogne) Repos à Ribérac is a small, family run bed & breakfast / chambres d'hotes set in a nineteenth century three-storey town house officially classified by the Conseil d'Architecture as a "Batiment du Caractère."
The bed & breakfast / chambres d'hotes consists of two double bedrooms, one twin-bedded room and one double-bedded family suite with children's room annexed. The children's room has beds for two children as well as a cot. All rooms have been tastefully updated and have either an en suite bathroom or shower room with shaving sockets and a hairdryer. A tea making kit is provided in each room. We have extra children's beds, cot and highchair. Laundry and ironing facilities are available upon request. WiFi is provided. Please note that smoking is not permitted within the house but you are welcome to use the courtyard if you wish.
Breakfast is included in the bed & breakfast / chambres d'hotes room price and is served between 8.00 and 10.00 am although earlier departures can be catered for. Fresh, crusty bread, brioche or croissants from one of our six excellent local boulangeries, home made jams and preserves, honey from the local bee-keeper and a seasonal selection of fruit and fruit juice will set you up for the day ahead, as well as a variety of cereals and yogurt and freshly ground coffee, hot chocolate and a selection of teas.
Although for the evening we are pleased to offer our Table d'hotes, where we use seasonal, regional food, taking care to keep our food miles to an absolute minimum, we do encourage our guests to sample the local cuisine, of which there is a wide and varied choice in the restaurants and cafés within a short walking distance from the bed & breakfast / chambres d'hotes.
Ribérac is ideally placed as a base for exploring the many interesting places the Aquitaine has to offer such as Bordeaux, Bergerac, St Emilion, Sarlat and Perigueux. The bed & breakfast / chambres d'hotes is within striking distance of many of the bastides (fortified towns) in the area including Beaumont, Domme, Eymet and Monpazier. Ribérac is also an ideal town in which to stay for the purpose of house-hunting, there being several estate agents all within a stone's throw from the house (see our links page). As well as our nightly room rates we are able to offer longer term bed & breakfast stays at reduced weekly rates for those wanting to stay a little longer in the area.
There are several activities within easy reach of the bed & breakfast / chambres d'hotes.
If you want to stock up on regional goodies for your return home we can offer advice on where to buy the best value local produce such as foie gras, honey, walnuts (for which the Perigord is famed), truffles and aperitifs and wines - all within close proximity to the bed & breakfast / chambres d'hotes.
Guests at the bed & breakfast / chambres d'hotes have the use of the salon where we have a stock of comprehensive information on what to see and do in the area. During the warmer months our enclosed courtyard is a shady haven with its leafy greenery where you can take refuge from the heat of the day and relax with a cool glass of rosé before your evening meal. In the winter months we have a log fire blazing in the fireplace of our large dining room with its beamed ceiling providing a warm, cosy setting for your breakfast and, if you wish to dine with us, your evening meal (table d'hotes).
