Advice and suggestions on buying wines from Bordeaux including an individually planned vineyard visit itinerary tailored to your own personal requirements
New for the 2010 season.....
After much pleasurable research, in both theory and practice, we are now able to offer advice and suggestions on wine tasting and buying. Sure, it's easy to nip down to Tesco or Oddbins to buy a bottle or two of the red stuff, but for today's more sophisticated hosts, a little more product knowledge and authenticity is in order and where better to acquire this knowledge than in the land of the grape where you get to try before you buy. Whatever your tastes and budget we will endeavour to tailor an itinerary for your vineyard visit(s).
Food and wine pairing...
Whatever you're eating you'll find a wine from Bordeaux to match. Not many wines sold in Bordeaux restaurants come from outside the Bordeaux region (the exception being Champagne) because it is widely held belief amongst the Bordelais that there is enough variety within their own wines to cope with any gastronomic eventuality. Whether it be oysters, crayfish, red or white meats, vegetarian dishes, soft or hard/goat or cow cheese or sweet desserts there is a Bordeaux to suit. Whilst there is always a wide range of top of the market first growth wines available (priced accordingly and beyond the reach of most of us), as indeed there's also a wide range at the lower end where negociants buy in bulk (often predictable and ubiquitous) those wines in the mid range, produced in smaller quantities and often not available outside the country, can provide an exciting discovery at affordable, every day prices. It is these wines in particular that we focus on, in order to guide you through the vineyards of Bordeaux.
